Franklin Adhesives & Polymers took two core PSAs back to the lab and emerged with high-performance versions, renamed Covinax 424-39, for permanent applications, and Covinax 265-05, for semi-removable use.

Franklin Adhesives & Polymers has reformulated two of its core pressure sensitive adhesives (PSAs) into significantly higher performing products: Next-generation Covinax 424-39 and Covinax 265-05.

Covinax 424-39 is a coater-ready surfactant stabilized vinyl acrylic copolymer for general purpose use in tape and label applications. It offers a more aggressive bond than its predecessor, with higher tack and peel. Although it produces a strong permanent bond, the product builds no adhesion with age, making it ideal for use in a wide variety of applications. It adheres to corrugated boxes, polyolefin films, glass and metals and offers good flexibility.

For added versatility, Covinax 424-39 also remains optically clear, with no yellowing, is resistant to UV emissions and heat and complies with FDA 21 CFR 175.105. It also boasts being APE and formaldehyde free. In addition, converters can easily transfer coat it on most rod, gravure or roll coaters.

Covinax 265-05 is a next-generation surfactant stabilized acrylic copolymer emulsion for semi-removable applications. It offers a much higher shear and improved peel and tack adhesion over the first generation product, with better stability over time. The coated label applied to substrates will act as an aggressive removable adhesive for up to four hours with the adhesion building to permanency.

The reformulated product adheres to multiple substrates with clean removability and no adhesive transfer. It is designed for removable paper and filmic labels where the labeled substrates are metal, film, plastic, glass and overprinted or painted surfaces and is ideal for shelf marking, food labeling, re-sealable envelopes and other applications. It was specifically designed to transfer coat with slot die and Mayer rod coaters on a wide variety of films and release liners.

Like Covinax 424-39, Covinax 265-05 remains optically clear, is UV resistant, and APE and formaldehyde free. It also complies with FDA 21CFR 175.105 and 21CFR 176.180.

The two next-generation products join a broad offering of PSAs that Franklin Adhesives & Polymers produces under the brand names Covinax, Acrynax and Micronax for a range of coating applications. They include products that adhere to most types of paper and film, such as polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride and Mylar, for safety labels, sheet labels, pharmaceutical labels, stamps and mailing applications, tapes and masking applications, and other end uses.
